Information for Temporary Staff and Contractors

Our charter

Our purpose is to provide our clients and candidates with a service that is responsive, relevant and protects their interests in both the short and long term. We are committed to sourcing the best people for the best people. We harness the talent, skills and experience essential for innovation, productivity and service delivery by utilising the diverse nature of the Australian community.

We value

Honesty and integrity by respecting the rights of both our clients and candidates to make informed decisions.

Equality for our candidates by ensuring they are given fair access to employment and that decisions are based on performance and achievement.

Keeping in touch

Once you have registered with Dixon Appointments you will need to keep in touch with us. When we have an assignment, we need to contact you immediately, so always leave a contact telephone number with us and keep us updated about when you are available for work. Our Recruitment Administrators can update your database records when your consultant is not available.

Assignments may be extended or finish earlier than planned so keep us informed to help us plan your next assignment.

Candidates are often offered permanent positions. Please call to advise us of the details so that we can make the necessary arrangements for you.

If you have a problem

Your consultant is always just a phone call away. If you have a problem at work, your consultant is the best person to help you resolve the issue. Our office is open between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. An answering machine is available for messages outside of these times and it also provides you with an emergency telephone number.

  • If you are unavoidably late or unable to get to an assignment let us know as soon as possible.
  • If you cannot complete your assignment, contact your consultant during business hours or on our emergency number and discuss the problem immediately. If you terminate your assignment without notifying us, you may forfeit wages.

Accepting an assignment

When you register with Dixon Appointments, your details are recorded on our database so that we can always locate you when positions that match your skills, experience and requirements come in. When you are offered an assignment, your consultant will give you the information you need to decide if the assignment is right for you. You are not obliged to accept any assignment and are free to turn down any job offer. Discuss any concerns with your consultant before you accept the assignment and keep them informed of your other job seeking activities. Once you have accepted an assignment we expect you to complete it to the full term. If the assignment is extended, you choose whether to commit to an additional term. If problems occur that may prevent you from completing your assignment, it is vital that you discuss it with your consultant immediately.

We value your effort

After each assignment that you complete for Dixon Appointments, an assessment form is sent to the client to request their feedback on the service provided by Dixon Appointments and your performance in the job. Whenever we receive an outstanding feedback report from your placement, we will advise you in writing and reward your efforts with a donation to STREAT tokens of our appreciation. Just one of the ways we say ‘thanks for doing a good job’.

Conduct and behavioural expectations

A successful candidate not only performs well in their work assignment(s), they are also respectful to the organisation for which they are working. You are also representing Dixon Appointments. Therefore, we ask that you follow these common sense guidelines in order to achieve your personal success.

  • Turn mobile phones OFF while at work and check for messages during your break. As a courtesy, ask before making personal calls and keep them to a minimum.
  • Keep in mind that electronic resources at work are for work purposes only, so do not use facilities for personal use unless specifically authorised by your supervisor.
  • You may have access to confidential information so maintain a professional approach and do not discuss it outside of the assignment.
  • Be punctual and always work the hours requested. If you need to vary your hours or have time off, discuss this with your consultant.
  • Be sure to dress appropriately for a professional environment and maintain the dress code set by Dixon Appointments and your host employer.
  • Follow instructions carefully, take notes if necessary and ask clarifying questions when in doubt. Ask for your work to be checked, especially at the start of the assignment.
  • Personal and non-work related items should not be displayed within the work environment.
  • A good attitude helps you and everyone around you turn a difficult project into a rewarding experience. Be friendly and introduce yourself to those you work with.

Remember, if you have any doubts or problems call your recruiter immediately on 9629 9999.
