Victorian employment trends
While June advertising trends are yet to be published by employment marketplace SEEK, Victorian hiring activity data from May hinted at recovery as job vacancies grew 48%.
This trend was influenced by 3 key sectors; the largest increase was good news for the hard-hit Hospitality and Tourism sector which saw 165% increase in job ads, reflecting some of the positive impacts from the easing of restrictions imposed to curb the rate of COVID-19 infections.
More positive news for Trades and Services and Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics where job ads increased 56% and 47% respectively.
Unfortunately, not all industries have experienced similar recoveries, with Professional Services continuing to prove stagnant.
Cautious optimism across Victorian employers continued in June, though the impact of this week’s recent targeted lock downs across 10 Melbourne postcodes may see a stalling of this trend.
