JobKeeper 2.0: Subsidy Extension

JobKeeper 2.0: Subsidy Extension

On 21 July 2020 the Australian Government announced the extension of the JobKeeper Scheme (known as JobKeeper 2.0) until 28 March 2021. The current scheme will remain in place until 27 September 2020, with phased rebate amounts under JobKeeper 2.0 from 28 September 2020.

What changes under JobKeeper 2.0?

For employers:
Employers who are currently eligible for JobKeeper will need to requalify to continue receiving JobKeeper 2.0 from 28 September 2020 and again in early January 2021.
For employees:
The eligibility criteria for employees remains the same, however there will be two different payment amounts, depending on the average hours the employee worked per week in February 2020. Employees who worked less than 20 hours a week on average in the four weekly pay periods ending before 1 March 2020 will receive the lower payment amount.
The payments will be further tapered in the January to March quarter:
