FWC extends Modern Award amendments
FWC extends Modern Award amendments
In light of the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 the Fairwork Commission has extended the period of time that Schedule X applies for many awards, including the Clerks award. The changes were originally implemented in April 2020 and were due to expire on June 30. The extensions apply differently for various awards depending on how each industry has been impacted by the pandemic; with the Clerks award changes extended to September 30 2020.
What does this mean?
Schedule X changes allowed for greater flexibility for employers as they navigate the economic impacts of the pandemic across the following:
- Job roles and responsibilities
- Work hours and arrangements
- Application of leave arrangements

While many Award amendments have been confirmed, some applications for extensions and changes are still being considered. Check the FWC website for full details of the determinations for each award.
