Increased minimum wage

The Fair Work Commission has announced a 1.75% increase to the National Minimum Wage to $753.80 per week or $19.84 per hour. This means temporary and casual employee minimum is $24.80 per hour. The Commission also announced increases for 20 Modern Awards, with more staged increases for the remaining award increases will take effect in two groups in the coming months. 

The first group of awards updated from July 1 are across the following three categories:

  • Frontline Health Care and Social Assistance Workers
  • Teachers and Child Care
  • Other Essential Services

The second group of awards will have increases applied from November 1 2020 and the last group on February 1 2021.
